Splash, the little white seal, meets the other toys at the seaside and, so far, has only appeared in one book (Splash) She is friendly, kind and fun and rescues Little Bear when he floats out to sea in a bucket.
When I decided to draw a seal I searched around to find a toy one that I liked and when I couldn’t find one I made Splash out of an old piece of white mohair fabric. To make her sea-shell necklace I drilled holes in tiny shells and threaded them on a piece of elastic.
Splash rescues all the things that get washed out to sea from the beach. So in her secret cave she has sandals, spades, buckets, balls and boats.
What is Splash wearing on her head when she rescues Little Bear from the sea?
Little Bear’s bucket.
